Genus Pulvinaria Targioni Tozzetti, 1866
Type species: Coccus vitis Linnaeus, 1758 , by original designation.
Diagnosis. Mature adult female with white ovisac visible under and posterior to body ( Fig. 43A View FIGURE 43 ); dorsal tubular ducts present or absent ( Fig. 42E View FIGURE 42 ); dorsal tubercles present or absent ( Figs 40B View FIGURE 40 , 42D View FIGURE 42 , 44D View FIGURE 44 ); ventral tubular ducts of more than 2 types present in submarginal areas and/or medial areas of head, thorax and abdomen ( Figs 39D View FIGURE 39 , 40J View FIGURE 40 , 41D View FIGURE 41 , 42J View FIGURE 42 , 43D View FIGURE 43 , 44I View FIGURE 44 ); legs with tibio-tarsal articulatory scleroses ( Fig. 40I View FIGURE 40 ) ( Hodgson 1994; Williams & Watson 1990; Choi & Lee 2017a).
Remarks. Pulvinaria is a large genus, consisting of 143 described species from all zoogeographical regions ( García Morales et al. 2016). Adult females of the genus are easily recognized by the presence of a white ovisac under and posterior to the body and several types of ventral tubular ducts present in the medial and submarginal areas of the body ( Hodgson 1994).
