Genus Eucalymnatus Cockerell in Cockerell & Parrott, 1901 View in CoL View at ENA
Type species: Lecanium tessellatum Signoret, 1873 , by original designation.
Diagnosis. Polygonal sclerotized plates irregularly present on dorsum ( Fig. 30C View FIGURE 30 ); ventral tubular ducts absent; legs each with a tibio-tarsal articulatory sclerosis ( Fig. 31G View FIGURE 31 ) ( Hodgson 1994; Hamon & Williams 1984).
Remarks. Eucalymnatus comprises 11 described species, mostly restricted to Brazil, Guatemala and Guyana in the Neotropical region except for the cosmopolitan species, E. tessellatus . Mature adult females of the genus are easily recognized by the polygonal sclerotized plates on the dorsum ( Hodgson 1994; García Morales et al. 2016).
