Recorded from the nearby San Rafael Swell as Oryzopsis hymenoides (Roem. & Schult.) Ricker ex Piper ( Harris 1983), and treated as Stipa hymenoides Roem. & Schult in Welsh et al. (1993) here we follow Barkworth (2007) who recognize the taxon in Achnatherum . Common across our study area, we encountered this species throughout the deserts surrounding MDRS (Fig. 39).
