Murexia Tate and Archbold 1937 View in CoL

Murexia Tate and Archbold 1937 View in CoL , Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 73: 335 (footnote), 339.

Type Species: Phascogale murex Thomas 1913

Species and subspecies: 1 species:

Species Murexia longicaudata (Schlegel 1866)

Discussion: Some of these species have traditionally been assigned to Antechinus , but so-called "New Guinea Antechinus " were transferred to Murexia by Armstrong et al. (1998). The undescribed species from Normanby Isl in the D’Entrecasteaux group, Papua New Guinea (Flannery, 1995 a) is actually Murexechinus melanurus according to Van Dyck (2002).
