Coloration. Body yellowish brown with reddish brown lateral stripes, from head through eyes to tip of tegmen, without golden yellow sub-lateral stripe; vertex with 2 pairs of brown stripes, inner one light brown, outer ones reddish brown. Lateral view, eyes dark in middle. Pronotum yellowish brown, lateral areas with reddish brown along with middle line; tear-like marks dark reddish brown, posterior part with dark red marks. Dorsal surface of hind femur marked with brown.
External morphology. Head sub-quadrate in dorsal view, lateral margins slightly producing laterally behind eyes; width at the level of eye equals to head width. Head distinctly longer than widest wide about 1.5:1. Frontal rostrum very long, apical margin straight, apical half narrow; middle ocellus elliptical, on tip of frontal rostrum; head wider than widest part of frons and wider than frontal rostrum about 9.5: 6.8: 1.0. Eyes triangular slightly produced laterally, about 1.9 times longer than wide; as long as frontal rostrm in length. Antennal scape subelongate, about 1.7 times longer than wide. Head longer than scape about 2.5: 1, about 1.5 times as long as length of pronotum; head almost as wide as pronotum at anterior margin; anterior margin of pronotum almost as wide as posterior one. Head in lateral view sub-triangular, dorsal margin straight, frons reclined caudo-ventrade in right angle; superior margin of antennal socket as long as diameter of eyes; posterior margin of antennal socket foliate, curved inward; anterior margin sinuate. Maxilla with lacinia acute at apex, inner margin curved; maxillary palpi 5 segmented, 1st:2nd: 3rd =1:2:1.6; labial palpi 3 segmented, 1st:2nd: 3rd = 1:1:1.8. Head in anterior view polygonal; frons protruding dorsally, shorter than face about 1: 2.2, shorter than mouth part about 1: 1.2; lateral margins of frons divergent ventrally; width of frons at narrowest narrower than widest part at the level of lateral process of frons about 1: 7.7; lateral process of frons acute at apex reach at joint of antennal socket and eyes. Upper margin of mouth part arched upward smoothly. Clypeus broad, 3.6 times as wide as long in middle line about 1:1.6.
Pronotum saddle like, in dorsal view, anterior margin slightly curved inward; posterior margin bi-sinuate, arched posteriorly at middle; lateral margins formed caudo-lateral angles. Pronotal disc with anterior part narrower than posterior part; middle line shorter than length at lateral margins about 1:1.1; shorter than anterior wide about 1: 1.2; posterior margin bi-sinuate, slightly curved inward at middle. Pronotal lateral lobes straight on dorsal margin, anterior running into ventral margin roundly then slowly upward dorsally; pronotum longer than width of widest part at level of posterior margin about 1.4: 1.
Metanotum with metanotal gland, concavation in the middle, longer than wide about 1.3:1, prominent surrounded, middle transverse prominent distinct, matched as mosaic; anterior margin of anterior concavity straight; lateral margin curved outward; posterior margin curved inward roundly. Anterior concavity quadrate almost as long as wide; posterior concavity round.
Tegmen longer than wide about 3.6:1, about 1/1.7 of body length, reaching at abdominal segment VII; Veins divergent laterally without stridulate organ.
Fore-tibia with tympanum on both sides, inner one longer than outer one about 1.5 times; 1st tarsal segment with 3 white sac like pulvillus, 3rd segment with pulvillus large and expanded; 3 tarsi about 1.1:1:1; inner margin of claws with spine near apex. Hind femur not reaching tip, femur as long as tibia; lateral spines of hind tibia i/o = 14/12, inner side 6 groups, 14 spines and (intercalary)= 5(1)5(1)1(1) 1(2)1, 2 basal teeth, outer side 8 group, 12 spines and (intercalary)= 3(1)2(1)2(1)1(1)1(1)1(1)1(2)1, 6 basal teeth.
Male genitalia. In dorsal view, epiphallus elongate elliptical; epiphallus about 2 times of cornua. Cornua single lobe, massive, sub-elliptical, about 1/3.6 of male genitalia in length, posterior margin curved inward, longer than widest wide in middle line about 1.8: 1. Lateral view, epiphallus and cornua long, formed rectangular; cornua slightly curved upward, pointed dorsally; rami reaching at anterior margin of epiphallus, ectoparamere exposed. Ventral view, cornua with lateral margins curved upward and mesad; ectoparamere tiny, about one seventh of cornua, about 2.6 times as long as widest width; median lobes reaching beyond apex of ectoparamere. Apodeme long, bifurcate, outer branch elongate, contacting ectoparamere, inner branch short, contacting median lobe. Subgenital plate oval in dorsal view, longer than widest part about 2.7:1, lateral margins curved inward, curved part about 1/ 2.2 of the length of subgenital plate. Distance between curved margins in proximal portion closer than widest portion, about 1: 2.5.
Female genitalia. Ovipositor long and straight, basal portion curved upward, as long as body length, sword part expanded dorsally, about 1/2.7 as long as length of ovipositor. Cross section wider than height about 1.3: 1.
Habitat. roadside vegetation under trees.
Host plant. Panicum maximum , Miscanthus sp.

Paralectotype: Female, “ Euscirtus karnyi nsp”; “ Euscyrtus cephalotes ? Det. T. Shiraki”; “ 14-IV-1920, Kotosho, col. T. Okuni”; “ Type ”; “834”.
Shiraki (1930) pointed out that the specimen of Euscyrtus cephalotes determined by Karny (1915) was collected from Kaohsiung, but was not the specimens reported by Saussure (1877) as Euscyrtus cephalotes .
Notes: The specimen no. 835 lost left hind leg and right cercus.
