Maracaynatum Roewer, 1949 View in CoL

Maracaynatum Roewer 1949: 59 View in CoL ; Šilhavy 1979: 16; Soares & Avram 1981: 77; Gonzalez-Sponga 1987: 377; 1989: 38; Kury 2003: 223. [type species: Maracaynatum orchidearum Roewer, 1949 View in CoL , by original designation].

Bordonina Soares & Avram 1981: 77 View in CoL [junior subjective synonym of Maracaynatum Roewer, 1949 View in CoL by Gonzalez-Sponga (1987); type species: Bordonina linaresi Soares & Avram, 1981 View in CoL , by original designation].

Emended diagnosis. External morphology: Dorsal scutum guitar-shaped, unarmed, with five areas finely granulated, wider at areas III–IV; ocularium round, granulated; sulci on dorsal scutum barely recognizable; opisthosoma higher than prosoma in lateral view. Chelicerae sexually dimorphic; different from all other American Samoidae by the presence of a stridulatory organ on mesal face of male chelicerae segment I; segment II with or without ornamentation. Pedipalps not swollen nor elongated. Metatarsus of leg III without modifications. Genital morphology (penis): truncus slightly depressed dorsoventrally. Pars distalis with 5–7 pairs of ventrolateral foliar setae and one pair of small acuminate ventrodistal setae; pars distalis without calyx and medial acute process, but with lamina apicalis reduced to a transversal apical keel. Capsula externa with follis not completely reduced as in other samoids, in the form of an eversible membranous sac, which is sometimes visible, even in non-expanded position. Capsula interna eversible, consisting of a free stylus, which can be flattened and bifid ( Maracaynatum isadorae sp. nov.), and a pair of laminar and divergent conductors, fused basally, which can also have bifid tips [ Maracaynatum linaresi ( Soares & Avram, 1981) , M. isadorae sp. nov.].
