Etymology. The epithet is an adjective, referring to the type locality.
Diagnosis. A species of Mairata n. gen. with: around 61–63 leg-bearing segments; known body length in adults 22–41 mm; distal denticle of forcipular trochanteroprefemur without apical setae ( Fig. 35A View FIGURE 35 ); coxopleuron with 10–20 coxal pores in adults, sparse, in both males and females ( Figs 35B View FIGURE 35 , 36 View FIGURE 36 D–E); females with ultimate legs slightly thickened when compared to penultimate leg ( Fig. 36D View FIGURE 36 ).
Recorded specimens: 11, including 7♀ and 4♂, from a single locality.
Distribution. Brazil—Rio de Janeiro: Itatiaia.
Description of holotype. Female (IBSP 6178).
Entire body: length 30, maximum width 1.05. Cephalic plate: sub-rectangular, length 0.68 and width 0.59 (length/width ratio 1.15), with little SE sparse. Antenna: length 1.57, ca. 2.3 times as long as cephalic plate; AA II–XIII length/width ratio 0.70–0.95; LAA ca. 3.0 times as long as AA XIII.
Clypeus: 4+4 LS, 1+1 PS, 8+8 SCS. Mandible: PL with 27 denticles. First maxillae: TFM length0.08 and width 0.06; DA with 3 apical and 2 subapical SL; MPC with 2–4 apical and 1–2 subapical SL. Second maxillae: left TSM length 0.13 (1.65 times as long as TFM) and maximum width (basal margin) 0.08; left T3 length 0.02 (0.66 times as long as T2) and width 0.02 (0.47 times as long as T2); both TSM with 1 apical SE and 1 apical SL.
Forcipular segment: FTE length 0.25 (0.37 times as long as cephalic plate) and width 0.65; FPT length 0.05 and width 0.50; FCX length 0.61 and width 0.67 (length/width ratio 0.91); FRL length 0.55, extending beyond the anterior margin of cephalic plate, and maximum width (middle part of TFF) 0.27; FRL with two denticles in TFF and one in TI; FD1 relatively large, pointed and without SE; FD2 pointed and with 3 subapical SE; FD3 bilobed and with 3 subapical SE; TA 0.76 times as long as TFF and with small basal DTA.
Walking legs: 63 pairs; left FL length 0.8, 0.9 times as long as the second leg; left leg 31 length 0.93. Tergum from the first to penultimate leg-bearing segment: TE 31 length 0.40 and width 0.70 (length/width ratio 0.57), with one anterior row of 16 SE and one posterior row of 7 SE, and little SE scattered between rows; PT 0.5 times as long as TE and with two parallel rows of 7–8 SE. Sternum from the first to penultimate leg-bearing segment: STF rounded, wider than long; ST 31 length 0.45 and width 0.41 (length/width ratio 1.09).
Ultimate leg-bearing segment: MTL trapezoidal, length 0.25 and maximum width 0.27 (length/width ratio 0.92); UPS exposed and suppressed in middle part. Ultimate legs: thickened when compared to penultimate leg, length 1.07, 1.1 times as long as penultimate leg; each CXP with 16–20 little COP, all sparse. Postpedal segments: GF with 2+2 distal SE.
Known variation. Male: 61 leg-bearing segments; UPS exposed and not suppressed in the middle part; each CXP with 10–12 COP; GM biarticulated; GM1 with 7–8 SE in one row; GM2 with 8–10 scattered SE.
