Material examined. 1♀ [H2] (SP) ‘ MALAYSIA: Sabah: Tawau River; Light trap near Park Headquarter ; ca. 4°24 ʹ 14 ʹʹ N, 117°53 ʹ 35 ʹʹ E, 270 m a.s .l.; leg. Taxon Expedition participants 12.March.2018 (1)L ’.
Remarks
This undoubtedly new species is represented by a single female specimen in our collection from the light trap at Tawau River. It appears most similar in proportion, elytral shape and size to Grouvellinus borneensis sp. nov., but differs externally by the bluish-purple metallic shine and a more rugose pronotum. It possesses the distinct rugulose elongate elytral patches between intervals 1 and 3 as also seen in females of the former species (comp. Figures 8 View Figures 6–9 , 16 View Figure 16 (b)). CL: 1.7 mm; EW: 0.8 mm. Due to the lack of male specimens and their aedeagi as the most distinctive morphological character,we refrain from a formal description. However, we provide an mtDNA barcode for comparison with any additional material to be described in the future: LR738837 View Materials .The barcode of this specimen varies at least 14.6% from all other known Grouvellinus species of Borneo.
