Holotype: male ( WSU, type number No. 327; see Zack, 1984: 19). Type locality: Chile, Arauco Province, Pichinahuel Mts [= Mountains]. Distr.: Biobío Region: Arauco Province (Pichinahuel); La Araucanía Region: Cautín Province (Lago Villarrica, Los Coigües).

Comments. Of the 11 paratypes (four males and seven females) and the allotype mentioned in the original description ( James, 1973b), three (sexes not stated) and the allotype are deposited in the WSU collection (see Zack, 1984: 19). One female paratype is in the CNC, which is not mentioned in Cooper & Cumming (1993) ( Figs 31– 33 View FIGURES 28–37 ). One paratype (sex not stated) is in the CAS and one male is in the FMNH collection ( Figs 34–37 View FIGURES 28–37 ; photos also available at: https://collections-zoology.fieldmuseum.org/taxonomy/316858). The depository institution of the remaining five paratypes remains unknown.

Distr.: Coquimbo Region: Limarí Province (Parque Nacional Bosque Fray Jorge, Termas Socos), Choapa Province (west of Canela Baja , Puerto Oscuro); Valparaíso Region: Valparaíso Province (Quebrada San Gerónimo); Metropolitana Region: Santiago Province (Las Condes, Quebrada de la Plata).

Comments. Of the 50 paratypes (36 males and 14 females) and the allotype mentioned in the original description ( James, 1973b), seven (sexes not stated) are deposited in the WSU collection (WSU No. 709; see Zack, 1984: 19) and another five currently in the CAS collection. A male paratype (labeled: Coquimbo, West of Canela Baja, 23.x.1961, L.E. Peña) is in the CNC collection ( Figs 38–40 View FIGURES 38–46 ), which is not mentioned in Cooper & Cumming (1993). James (1973b: 13) mentioned several females that he believed to belong to the species but were not included in the paratype series due to their similarity with Beridops maculipennis ( Blanchard, 1852) . The depository institution of the remaining 37 paratypes and the allotype remains unknown.
