The valid type species fixation is that of Desmarset (1860), who selected Macronota diardi Gory & Percheron, 1833 View in CoL ,
but that species is currently included in the genus Coilodera Hope, 1831 View in CoL . An application to the Commission is necessary to fix Cetonia nigrita Frölich, 1792 View in CoL as the type species of Macronota Hoffmannsegg, 1817 View in CoL . Note: Gory & Percheron (1833) incorrectly spelt Macronota View in CoL as “ Macronata ”, Kraatz (1892b) incorrectly spelt Macronota View in CoL as “ Mecinonota ”, and Schoch (1896e) incorrectly spelt Macronota View in CoL as “ Mecinota ”.
Thamnastopeos Kraatz in Brenske, 1883. Type species Lomaptera mohnikii Thomson, 1877 View in CoL (= Macronota striatus striatus ( Wallace, 1867)) View in CoL , by subsequent designation of Arrow (1910). Synonymy by Krikken (2018). Note: Brenske (1883) incorrectly spelt Thamnastopeos as “ Thamnastopeos ”, Kraatz (1885b) incorrectly spelt Thamnastopeos as “ Thaumastopeus View in CoL ” but in prevailing usage ( Smetana & Smith 2006), Schoch (1895a) incorrectly spelt Thamnastopeos as “ Taumastopeus ”, and Heller (1899) incorrectly spelt Thamnastopeos as “ Thaumastopaeus View in CoL ”.
