Subgenus Brachynidius Reitter, 1919 View in CoL
A number of beetles were identified as members of this subgenus, but from the illustrations given by Kirschenhofer (2012), they appear to be neither of the two species expected in east Asia, Brachinus (Brachynidius) modestus Schmidt-Göbel, 1846 , or Brachinus (Brachynidius) puncticollis Schmidt-Göbel, 1846 . Material: 1 ex. W.T.L., 6.xi.14; 1 ex. W.T.L., 11.xi.06. Biology: Imago found November. Can be attracted to light. It may well be that this is a higher altitude species, descending to lower altitudes due to the temperature drop which usually occurs in November. Fully winged and capable of flight.
