Subgenus Amblygenius LaFert-Sénectére, 1851
Chlaenius (Amblygenius) sinensis Chaudoir, 1856 View in CoL
Chaudoir described this species from specimens originating from Hong Kong. Chaudoir (1876b) noted this species as quite common in Hong Kong. Gemminger & Harold (1868), Hill (1982) and Kirschenhofer (2003a) also list this species for Hong Kong. Hill (1982) gives it the common name Shiny Ground Beetle. Material: ♀ Hong Kong, Lantau, Wo Tin 14.ii.15 Wo Tin, under rock on dry hillside; ♀ W.T.L., 22.vi.12; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lantau, Sunset Peak, 27.ix.09, found dead on path dried. Ƌ W.T., 1.xii.10, in grass at circa 200 m alt, under rock, together with what looked like Craspedophorus mandarinus View in CoL or very similar species. Biology: Imago found throughout the year. This species seems to like grassy, dry hilltops. Can be attracted to light, it is fully winged and capable of flight.
