Subgenus Tachylopha Motschulsky, 1862
Tachyura (Tachylopha) ovata ( Motchulsky, 1851)
Schaum described a junior synonym of this species Tachyura albicornis Schaum, 1860 from a specimen collected by Bowring in Hong Kong. Also listed for Hong Kong by Gemminger & Harold (1868), Andrewes (1919a) and Kopecky (2003). Andrewes (1928) draws attention to a specimen in Motschulsky's collection, originating from Bowring and dated 7.xii.51, bearing a double sided label, on one side (not in Motschulsky's handwriting " Tachys albicornis Schaum View in CoL , Hong Kong " and on the other probably in Chaudoir’s writing " Bemb callipygum View in CoL Chaud". Material: 1 ex. Hong Kong, Lam Tsuen valley, 2.i.12, (leg. Jason Maté); 1 ex. W.T.L., 31.v.15; 2 exx. W.T.L., 24.vi.15. Biology: Imago found January and May to June. Andrewes & Scott (1924) commented it was found under stones in Macao, though the only recent Hong Kong record from a habitat was found on the grassy bottom of a narrow, shallow drainage ditch. Can be attracted to light.
