Material examined. Madeira: Ribeira da Janela (1 male) .

Remarks. Acanthiophilus walkeri is only known from Madeira and the Canary Islands. In Madeira is common and widespread throughout the island, from the coastline to the laurel forest. The preferred host plants of this species are thistles ( Merz 1992; Smit 2006).
