Genus Lithocypris View in CoL gen. nov. Martens, Almeida & Higuti
lsid:zoobank.org:act: 4F93E859-D7F5-49C3-9F2E-3CB80BAFECB9
Type species: Lithocypris peyia gen. et spec. nov.
Etymology: the new genus is named after the type of habitat from which it was collected, namely a lithotelma (rockpool) in a forest ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ).
Differential Diagnosis: the new genus can be distinguished from the other genera in the subfamily by a combination of the following features: carapace elongated in lateral view and narrow in dorsal view, only LV with a weak ventral and posterior inner list, A1 with both RO and WO, Mx1 with rectangular second palp segment and very short sideways directed bristles, T1 with setae a, b and d present, T2 with setae d1 and d2 very short, T3 with seta f missing, lateral shield on Hp with two lobes and Zenker organ with a crown.
A key to the genera of the Cypricercinae is provided in Table 3 View TABLE 3 .
The genus is monospecific and thus far endemic to New Caledonia.
