DISTRIBUTION. — This species has one of the most extensive north to south distribution of any cicada species. It has been reported from central Argentina to the southern United States ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn et al. 1995b; Boulard 1996, 2005, 2006; Sanborn 2001 a, 2006, 2007a, b, 2010a; Sueur 2002; De Santis et al. 2007; Thouvenot 2007b).
