3.26. Epilobium sikkimense Haussknecht (1879: 52) ( Fig. 3B ).

Lectotype (designated by Raven 1962a):— INDIA. Sikkim: Lachen , 4250 m, 14 July 1849, Hooker s.n. ( K000979304 !, isolectotype K000979308 !).

= Epilobium sikkimense Hausskn. subsp. ludlowianum Raven (1962a: 373) .

Type :— BHUTAN. Singhi Dzong: approximately 27°55’N, 91°13’E, 2400 m, in Abies forest, 4 August 1949, Ludlow, Sherriff & Hicks 21386 (holotype BM000957936 !).

= Epilobium soboliferum Raven (1962a: 375) .

Type:— CHINA. Xizang: Mainling Xian, Rong Chu , Tumbatse , Kongbo , approximately 29°42’ N, 94°47’ E, 3800 m, on gravel bed of river, 1 July 1938, Ludlow, Sherriff & Taylor 5075 (holotype BM000957931 !).

= Epilobium squamosum Raven (1962a: 380) .

Type :— NEPAL. Chhoyang Khola : west of Num, Arun Valley,approximately 27°32’ N, 87°14’ E, 3500 m, on rocky hillside, 20 June 1956, Stainton 726 (holotype BM000957929 !).

= Epilobium trilectorum Raven (1962a: 374) .

Type :— NEPAL. Lamjung Himal: approximately 28°28’ N, 84°15’ E, 4100 m, forming small clumps on open slopes, 11 July 1954, Stainton, Sykes & Williams 6271 (holotype BM000957925 !).

Distribution: —W Nepal, C Nepal, E Nepal, U Yarlung Zangbo, Sikkim & Darjeeling, Bhutan, U Yarlung Zangbo, M Yarlung Zangbo, L Yarlung Zangbo, Tangut, S Hengduan, N Hengduan.

Note: — Epilobium sikkimense is particularly polymorphic in its stature, leaves, and flower size. We can identify it by the hairs on the styles, thick fleshy soboles and branched stems ( Chen et al. 1992).
