Lectotype (designated by Raven 1962a):— TURKEY. Aintab (Gaziantep): banks of the River Sadschur, 26 June 1865, Haussknecht 812 ( JE).

Lectotype (designated by Raven 1962a):— INDIA. Ladakh: Nubra Valley, 4 August 1848, Thomson s.n. (K).
Distribution: —N Pakistan, Jammu & Kashmir, N Hengduan.
Note: —In some locations in the Pan-Himalaya region, this species is growing with Epilobium palustre ( Raven 1962a) . Two species are often confused with each other. However, E. minutiflorum can be recognized by its smaller flowers and seeds, and broader serrulate leaves.
