Phytonominae: Phytonomini Hypera brunnipennis (Boheman, 1834)
Material Examined. 28.IV.2012, LT, 1 ex.
Distribution. Egypt, Iran, Israel, Lebanon (Skuhrovec 2013); also introduced into Arizona, California, and Baja California (O’ Brien and Wibmer 1982).
Notes. The correct name of this subfamily is Phytonominae Gistel, 1856 which has priority over Hyperinae Marseul, 1863 . Alonso-Zarazaga and Lyal (1999) selected the junior name pending a submission to the International Commission by them of an application for suppressing of all names prior to Hyperinae . To our knowledge, this application was never submitted, and so we apply here the strict priority. The single KSA specimen of this pest weevil was attracted to UV light.
