Bionomics
The seven species of Prodontorhabditis though nowhere common, are distributed world wide. Three species have been recorded from Asia, one from North America, two from Europe and one from New Zealand. Species of Prodontorhabditis are found in temperate ( P. wirthi , P. gracilis and P. parvus ) and also tropical and subtropical regions of the world ( P. pluvialis , P. prodontis , P. robustus sp. n., P. grandistoma sp. n.). P. robustus sp. n. and P. pluvialis were collected from rotting banana rhizome, P. grandistoma sp. n. from decaying organic matter, P. wirthi and P. prodontis were associated with algae and seaweed on a beach while P. gracilis and P. parvus were found from piles of cow and horse dung.
