Caliothrips Daniel View in CoL
There are 23 species listed worldwide in this genus (ThripsWiki 2020), and five are here recorded from Brazil, including one new species. Members of Caliothrips have the sculptured reticles on the head and pronotum bearing internal markings ( Figs 49–51 View FIGURES 34–51 ), but the tergal lateral sculpture may be reticulate or transversely striate. The antennae are 8-segmented with forked sense cones on segments III and IV ( Figs 37, 38 View FIGURES 34–51 ). The head does not have a transverse ridge, but the posterior pair of coxae have a distinctive internal coiled apodeme ( Fig. 96 View FIGURES 92–106 ).
