Hoodothrips lineatus (Hood) View in CoL
( Figs 30, 31 View FIGURES 18–33 , 46 View FIGURES 34–51 , 61 View FIGURES 52–64 , 79, 89 View FIGURES 77–91 , 119 View FIGURES 107–120 )
This species is recorded in Brazil as pest of banana ( Martinez & Palazzo 1971, Martinez 1975), and the males have a lateral expansion on abdominal segments IV and V whose function is not yet understood. This feature is not present on males of H. constrictus . The lateral protrusion on pleurotergite IV is a downward facing hook, and that on V is a large tubercle with 1 or more apical setae ( Fig. 119 View FIGURES 107–120 ). Sternites III–VII of males have transverse markings on the anterior sternites and small, oval reticulations on the posterior sternites.
