Comments. This is the type-species of Neoapenesia  . The species is clearly a male of Apenesia  because it has all the diagnostic features of the genus: clypeus subtrapezoidal with median tooth; mesoscutum gibbous; paramere narrow and densely hairy, cuspis developed dorsad. This species is unique in having the head as long as wide and trapezoidal, with the gena long and the vertex convex; the mandible with three teeth; the notaulus absent; the metapostnotum rugulose with the metapostnotal median carina present; the hypopygium with the plate very short with the posterior margin convex and the cuspis with two apical calli. The species was known only from one specimen recorded from Philippines ( Terayama 1995a) and now it is record also from Malaysia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. This is the most abundant species of Apenesia  .

Remarks. The illustration of the body, genitalia and hypopygium was provided using a non-type specimen.

Distribution. Oriental ( Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia) and Australian ( Papua New Guinea).
