TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Nodoa (i.e. Danzhou ), alt. 450 m, 28April 1922, F. A. McClure 2769 (i.e. Canton Christian College Herbarium 9326) (syntype: PNH, destroyed, A 00066487 image!, A 00066488 image!, NY 00107378 image!) .

The name Casearia villilimba Merr. was validly published with a gathering “ McClure 9326 ” designated as the type ( Merrill, 1932). However, the collecting number on the lable of the syntype specimen ( A 00066487 ) is 2769, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 9326. Therefore, the erroneous collecting number in the designation of type is to be corrected.
