TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Yik Tsok Mau, 18 May 1922, F. A. McClure 3122 (i.e. Canton Christian College Herbarium 9672) (syntype: PNH, destroyed, A 00077130 image!, A 00077131 image!, A 00077132 image!) .
Merrill (1923) validly published the name Symplocos lancilimba Merr. with only one gathering, McClure 9672, cited in the protologue. However, the collecting number on the label of the syntype specimen ( A 00077132 ) exists in A is 3122, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 9672.Therefore, the erroneous collecting number is to be corrected.
