Trees 4.80–6 m tall. Whitish brown and scaly rhytidome. Branches erect, quadrangular, not winged, rufous; branches, petioles, leaves abaxial surface, inflorescences, bracts, bracteoles, hypanthium and fruits with dendritic persistent trichomes. Leaves opposite, isophyllous; petioles slightly channelled 4.2–4.7 mm long; leaf blades 27–32 × 10.9–14.2 cm, chartaceous, discolored, symmetrical, oblong-elliptic or obovate, base attenuate, apex acuminate, margins entire, not ciliate, adaxial side glabrous, leaf veins 5, suprabasal; ant domatia absent. Paniculate 13.3–18.1 × 14.6–16.7 cm, terminal; bracts ca. 1.1 mm long, triangular, caducous; bracteoles ca. 0.7 mm long. Flowers 5-merous; pedicel ca. 0.2 mm long; hypanthium ca. 2.6 mm long, campanulate, striate; lacinia triangular, with dendritic trichomes; calyx double, persistent; petals ca. 2.8– 1.8 mm, white, obovate, symmetrical, apex rounded, base attenuate, margins not ciliate, glabrous; stamens 10, heteromorphic, smaller anthers ca. 2.3 mm, larger anthers ca. 2.8 mm long, white, oblong, straight, apex truncate,1 apical pore, connective not prolonged, smaller filaments ca. 2.7 mm long, larger filaments ca. 3.1 mm long, glabrous; ovary ca. 1.2 mm long, half-inferior, placentation axillary, 3-locular, with glandular trichomes; style ca. 5.9 mm long, straight, with dendritic caducous trichomes. Berry ca. 4.6 × 5.9 mm, unripe fruit green, ripe fruit purple; seeds numerous, triangular.

Specimens examined:— BRAZIL. Amazonas, Manaus, RDS-Tupé, 24 October 2003, fr., Herb 96 (HUAM!).

Additional specimens examined:— BRAZIL. Amazonas , Manaus, 29 July 1984, fl., S. Renner 982 ( INPA!) ; 11 October 1984, fl., S. Renner 1004 ( INPA!) .

Distribution and habitat:— Colombia, Peru, Bolivia ( Goldenberg et al. 2013). In Brazil it occurs in Amazonian forests ( Goldenberg & Caddah 2015). In the reserve, it occurs on “terra firme” plateaus, in places with plenty sunlight, on well drained, clay soil.

Comments:— This species is not frequent in the reserve. It can be recognized by the whitish brown and scaly rhytidome, leaves with suprabasal veins and style with dendritic trichomes.
