Shrubs 1.60–2.30 m tall. Slightly scaly rhytidome, whitish brown. Branches erect, cylindrical, not winged, rufous, full; branches, petioles, leaves abaxial surface, inflorescences, bracts, bracteoles, hypanthium and fruits with dendritic persistent trichomes. Leaves opposite, isophyllous; petioles channelled 1–1.8 cm long; leaf blades 14.8–20.1 × 7.3–12.3 cm, chartaceous, discolored, symmetrical, elliptical or oblong-elliptic, base cuneate, apex acuminate, margins entire, not ciliate, adaxial side glabrous, young leaves with dendritic trichomes,, leaf veins 5, suprabasal; ant domatia absent. Paniculate 6.3–1.2 × 6.8–7.8 cm, terminal; bracts ca. 6.3 mm long, ovate, caducous; bracteoles 4.6 mm long. Flowers 6-merous, sessile; hypanthium 6 mm long, campanulate, smooth; calyx simple, caducous; lacinia ovate; petals 6.9–7.2 × 3.9–4.1 mm, white, obovate, symmetrical, apex rounded, base attenuate, margins not ciliate, glabrous; stamens 12, heteromorphic, smaller anthers 5.1–5.4 mm, larger anthers 6.8–7.1 mm long, pinkish, sickle-shaped, slightly curved, apex attenuate, 1 apical pore, connective not prolonged, smaller filaments 5–5.2 mm, larger filaments 6.9–7.1 mm long, glabrous; ovary 1.9– 1.5 mm, half-inferior, placentation axillary, with glandular trichomes; style 14.7–15.3 mm long, straight, with glandular persistent trichomes. Berry 6.2–6.5 × 6.5–6.7 mm, unripe fruit green, ripe fruit blackish or purple. Seeds numerous, triangular.

Distribution and habitat:— Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Nigaragua, Costa rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Peru, Bolivia ( Goldenberg et al. 2013). In Brazil it occurs in Amazonian forests, Cerrado and Atlantic forest ( Goldenberg & Caddah 2015). In the reserve, it occurs in terra-firme plateaus, on well drained, clay soil with a lot of organic matter.

Comments:— This species is frequent in the reserve. It can be recognized by the whitish brown, slightly scaly rhytidome, by the dendritic trichomes all over the plant, channelled petioles, and 6-merous flowers.
