Trees ca. 8 m tall. Vertically striate rhytidome. Branches erect, quadrangular, rufous; branches, petioles, leaves abaxial surface, inflorescences, bracts, bracteoles, hypanthium and fruits with dendritic persistent trichomes. Leaves opposite, isophyllous; petioles channelled 3.6–4.2 cm long; leaf blades 24.6–34.2 × 14.6–20.1 cm long, chartaceous, discolored, symmetrical, oval, base attenuate, apex acuminate, margins denticulate, not ciliate, adaxial side glabrous, leaf veins 5, suprabasal; ant domatia present over the leaf base veins on the abaxial surface. Paniculate 14.6–18.2 × 3.6– 3.5 mm, terminal; bracts not seen; bracteoles not seen. Flowers 5-merous; pedicel ca. 0.2 mm long; hypanthium 3.2 mm long, oblong, wrinkled; calyx double, caducous; lacinia triangular; petals ca. 3.2 × 3 mm, white, obovate, symmetrical, apex rounded, base truncate, margins not ciliate, glabrous; stamens 10,isomorphic, anthers ca. 4.2 mm long, white, oblong, straight, apex attenuate, anthers with ventral glands at the base, with 1 apical pore, connective not prolonged, filament 3.7 mm long, with glandular persistent trichomes; ovary ca. 1.8 mm long, superior, 3-locular, with simple trichomes; style 7.4 mm long, straight, glabrous. Berry ca. 6.1 × 4.9–5.5 mm, unripe fruit green, ripe fruit orange; seeds numerous, triangular.

Additional specimens examined:— BRAZIL. Amazonas, Manaus, 15 April 2006, fl., F. A. Carvalho 584 ( INPA!).
Distribution and habitat: Endemic to Brazil, in the state of Amazonas ( Goldenberg et al. 2013). In the reserve, it occurs in “terra firme” plateaus over clay soil with low organic matter.
Comments:— This species is not frequent in the reserve. It can be distinghished by the mymecophytism, brown, vertically striate rhytidome and leaves with glabrous adaxial surfaces.
