Holotype: ANSP 103583, 31.8 mm SL.

Type locality: Saint Joseph Atoll, Amirante Group, Seychelles, western Indian Ocean, depth 15 to 27 meters. Illustrations: Heemstra & Randall, 2009:15 (fig. 13), 17 (pl. 1H); Kuiter, 2004:112, figs. Distribution: widespread in the Indo–Pacific from the Red Sea and South Africa to Hawaii and the Tuamotu Islands.
