Holotype: BPBM 18858, 58.3 mm SL, male.

Type locality: lagoon reef, Villingili , North Male Atoll, Maldive Islands, depth 25 meters. Illustrations: Kuiter, 2004:71, figs . A –F; Randall & Lubbock, 1981:15, fig. 12.

D: X, 16 or 17. A: III, 7. P: 19 or 20. C: 15 (8 + 7). V: 26 (10 + 16 or 11 + 15). S: 1. GR: 10 to 12 + 22 to 25. LL: 53 to 58. CP: 29 to 33.

Distribution: Indian Ocean: Maldives and Andaman Sea to Sumatra ( Indonesia).
