Lectotype: ZMA 113364, 19.8 mm SL.

Type locality: Paternoster Islands (east of Sailus Besar, north of Sumbawa), Indonesia, depth 36 meters (selected by Randall, 1980:149). D: X, 13 to 15. A: III, 6 or 7. P: 12 or 13. C: 13 to 15 (branched). V: 26 (10 + 16). S: 2. GR: 4 to 6 + 9 to 12. LL: 12 to 15 (incomplete). CP: 12.

Distribution: widespread in the Indo –west Pacific from east Africa to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, Australia, New Caledonia, Marshall Islands, and Fiji.
