Cyrtopsis t-sigillata Liu, Zhou & Bi, 2010. In: Xu, H.-C. & Ye, T.-X. (Eds.). Insects of Fengyangshan National Nature Reserve, 78, 87.
Description. Male. Body small, relatively stout. Fastigium verticis narrower than scape of antenna, conical, robust and short, apex obtuse, dorsum with a weak longitudinal furrow. Apical segment of maxillary palpi slightly longer than subapical one, apex rounded. Eyes spherical, obviously protruding outward. Pronotum slightly shorter than half of body, posterior transverse sulcus comparatively distinct, metazona slightly intumescent, anterior margin straight, posterior margin obtusely rounded; lateral lobes length as three times as height, obtusely triangular, posterior margin inclined, humeral sinus indistinct. Thoracic auditory spiracles free. Tegmen almost completely hidden under pronotum. Prosternum unarmed. All legs covered with dense hairs, all femora unarmed on ventral surface. Procoxa with one spine; apices of genicular lobes of profemora obtusely rounded; tibial tympana open on both sides, oval, internal and external sides of ventral surface with five spines separately. Apices of genicular lobes of mesofemora acutely triangular; mesotibiae equipped with six spines on external side and five spines on internal side of ventral surface. Apices of genicular lobes of postfemora with one spine on both sides separately; posttibiae with 30–32 spines on internal and external sides of dorsal surface, and 2–4 spines internal and external sides of ventral surface separately, one pair of dorsal apical spurs and one pair of ventral apical spurs.
Tenth abdominal tergite complicated, broad in base, slightly disc-like, centre concave, with posterior process near ventral margin, terminalia fissured, and ventral area of posterior process extending downwards, rectangular, lamella-shaped, curved downwards, apices obtusely rounded. Cerci with dense hairs, slightly curved interodorsally, robust at base, apices divided into dorsal branch and ventral branch, dorsal branch longer than ventral one, apices acute; ventral branch short, apices obtusely rounded. Subgenital plate scaliform, base broad, narrowing; posterior margin concave. Styli on lateral apices of posterior margin of subgenital plate, cylindrical, apical area slightly thin, apices subacute.
Coloration. Body yellowish brown. Eyes yellowish brown, with some brown spots. Disc of pronotum with a longitudinal broad brown stripe, the three quarters posterior area with lateral black stripes, slightly broad in metazona, outer margins of the longitudinal brown stripe embeding longitudinal lateral yellow stripes. Lateral lobes of pronotum yellow, with yellowish brown edges and a green area on dorsal margin. Tibial tympana yellowish brown. Dorsum of abdomen with a longitudinal reddish brown stripe, and embeding lateral pale brown stripes on the external margins. Tenth abdominal tergite not uniform, middle area darkish brown, around the area of which yellowish brown.
Female. We examined the two specimens collected from Qingliangfeng and Fengyangshan separately, Zhejiang. One collected from Fengyangshan (type locality of this species) has lateral genicular lobes of left postfemur obtusely rounded on both sides, as well as the external genicular lobe of right postfemur, but the internal genicular lobe of right postfemur possesses one spine. Dorsum of head with a T-shaped stripe. Disc of pronotum with a longitudinal pale brown stripe, lateral margins of metazona possess a lateral black stripe separately, the longitudinal black stripe embed a lateral yellow stripe on the outer margins separately. The other collected from Qingliangfeng has a spine on apices of genicular lobes of postfemur separately. Dorsum of head without T-shaped stripe. Disc of pronotum has a longitudinal brown stripe, but three quarters posterior area of the brown stripe with a lateral black stripe on both sides.
Material examined. One male, Longtangshan, Qingliangfeng, Zhejiang, 31 July 2012, collected by Guang- Lin Xie. One female, Fengyangshan, Longquan, Zhejiang, 21 August 2014, collected by Juan-Xia Di. The other female, Longtangshan, Qingliangfeng, Zhejiang, 31 July 2012, collected by Jiao Jiao.
Measurements (mm). Male: body: 13.5; pronotum: 6.5; postfemur: 12.5. Female (collected from Qingliangfeng): body: 16.5; pronotum: 5.5; postfemur: 12.5; ovipositor: 6.5. Female (collected from Fengyangshan): body: 13.5; pronotum: 6.5; postfemur: 14.5; ovipositor: 7.0.
Distribution. China (Zhejiang: Qingliangfeng, Fengyangshan).
Remarks. The male is allied to Cyrtopsis scutigera Bey-Bienko, 1962 , but it is different from the latter in: posterior process of tenth abdominal tergite symmetrical; cerci bifurcate at apices. Also, the male is similar to Cyrtopsis (Cyrtopsis) robusta Liu & Zhang, 2007 , but the differences are as follows: lateral margins of the longitudinal brown stripe of pronotum are almost paralleled, and black lateral stripes successive; posterior process of tenth abdominal tergite short; cerci bifurcate at apices.
MAP 1. Distribution map of the genus Cyrtopsis .
When Liu et al. (2010) described the new species Cyrtopsis t-sigillata, they based on one female (holotype), which has a T-shaped stripe on dorsum of head, and a longitudinal brown stripe on disc of pronotum. Also, the external margin of metazona possesses a lateral black stripe on both sides separately. We examined two female specimens. One was collected from type locality (Fengyangshan, Zhejiang), and the morphological characteristics are same as holotype. But the other is different, it was collected from Qingliangfeng, which has no T-shaped stripe on dorsum of head and has three quarters black lateral stripe on posterior area of pronotum, but other characteristics are similar to holotype.
In this paper, the male is described firstly. There are some differences between the female and holotype, especially in some morphological characteristics and stripes. Even so, we think that they all belong to Cyrtopsis tsigillata , and the differences pertain to individual variations. In a word, there exist comparatively obvious differences among individuals in species of the tribe Meconematini .
