Euplocania cearaensis View in CoL n. sp. Male
( Figs 9–15 View FIGURES 9–15 )
Diagnosis. Belonging in species group amabilis of García Aldrete et al. (2013) and subgroup manausensis , of Vinasco-Mondragón et al. (2018). It is close to E. manausensis Vinasco-Mondragón, González & García Aldrete , from which it differs by the postero-lateral process of the central sclerite of the hypandrium, and by the shape of the mesal endophallic sclerite (compare Figs 13 and 14 View FIGURES 9–15 in this paper with Figs 41, 42 View FIGURES 39–46 , 47 and 48 View FIGURES 47–53 in Vinasco- Mondragón et al. 2018).
Color (in 80% ethanol). Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents, head pattern ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Scape dark brown, pedicel pale yellow, f1–f3 brown, with apex pale yellow. Mx4 yellow with apex dark brown. Legs with coxae, trochanters and femora brown, tibiae yellow with apex dark brown; tarsomere 1 yellow with end dark brown, tarsomeres 2–3 dark brown. Forewings veins brown, with a dark brown spot at wing margin, a marginal pigmented band from R 4+5 to A 2 with two hyaline areas, boomerang shaped, on each side of the distal ends of the veins at wing margin; Rs and crossvein Rs-M dark brown. Pterostigma dark brown, with a hyaline window, almost rectangular at lower angle ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Hindwings ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9–15 ), almost hyaline, veins brown, each with a brown spot distally at wing margin.
Morphology. Compound eyes without interommatidial setae ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with six denticles ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Forewing pterostigma almost triangular, areola postica tall, with round apex, slanted posteriorly, M with four primary branches ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Hindwing Rs straight, R 2+3 straight, R 4+5 convex in the middle, M sinuous ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Hypandrium of three sclerites, a large central sclerite, with two posterior projections sinuous, distally curved outwards and acuminate, flanking a short median area almost straight; side sclerites large, almost triangular; setae as illustrated ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Phallosome ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 9–15 ) with side struts proximally fused, U-shaped, slender, widening posteriorly and ending in a triangular apex. External parameres stout, K-shaped, with pores in outer arm. Mesal sclerite wide transversely, strongly sclerotized, anteriorly sinuous, posteriorly with a long median projection, blunt ended. Three pairs of endophallic sclerites, antero-mesal pair strongly sclerotized, rounded basally, almost square posteriorly, with acuminate apex; antero-lateral pair stout, elongate, proximally wide, narrowing posteriorly, distally acuminate; posterior pair emerging from behind the mesal sclerite, small, slightly curved outward. Epiproct wide based, posteriorly rounded; setae as illustrated ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 9–15 ). Paraprocts broad, almost triangular, sensory fields with 28–30 trichobothria on basal rosettes, setae as illustrated ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 9–15 ).
