Comparison of the data provided in the descriptions of C. livida , C. microdon pallida and C. obscura by Brauer (1906: 82, 85 and 88–89, respectively) with those in his list of stations (pp. 357–364), as well as with the number of syntypes listed by Fricke et al. (2021a) revealed several discrepancies. Brauer had many more specimen ( Table 3 ), all apparently syntypes, than the number cited by Fricke et al. (2021a). For C. pallida, Fricke et al. (2021a) estimated about 100 specimens for ZMB 19315–18, but ZMB’s database shows no counts for these lots. On the other hand, Fricke et al. (2021a) give no count for ZMB 22316–23, but the database indicates a total of 54 specimens. In addition, Fricke et al. (2021a) listed ZMB 19315–18 among the syntypes of C. pallida , but according to the museum’s database the specimens in these lots were collected by the Gauss Expedition sometime between 14 October 1901 and 20 October 1903, so they cannot be syntypes of C. pallida . Of the 36 station numbers listed by Brauer (1906: 85) in the description of C. microdon pallida ( Table 3 ), only three stations (42, 170 and 227) were included in the list of stations. Oddly, station 207, cited by Brauer (1902) as the source of his measured specimen of C. pallida , was not among the station numbers listed in his description of C. microdon pallida ( Brauer (1906: 85). Moreover, the latter is not among the names of captured taxa at station 207 in his list of stations ( Brauer 1906: 361).

Another mismatch was found with station 66, listed in the description of C. livida ( Brauer 1906: 82) , but this species is not among the taxa listed under this station number in Brauer’s (1906: 358) list of stations.

As for C. obscura , we found no data mismatches between Brauer’s (1906) description and the station list, but one of the specimens (ZMB 19321) mentioned by Fricke et al. (2021a) was collected during the Gauss Expedition and therefore cannot be a syntype.
