Aduncothrips walkerae (Mound) View in CoL comb.n.
Desmidothrips walkerae Mound, 1977: 151 View in CoL .
Known only from New Zealand, this is one of two species with the maxillary palps 3-segmented, segment II not subdivided in females and males. Variation in some characters was discussed with the original description, including color of antennal segment III, sensorium length on segments III-IV, and the dorsal setae of male abdominal tergite IX. These differences were not considered suitable for erecting new taxa without any biological information ( Mound 1977). This species was found in Hebe stricta View in CoL flowers with large numbers of Thrips obscuratus View in CoL , suggesting that it may be predatory ( Mound & Walker 1982).
