Diagnosis. Disc of pronotum with one pair, and elytra with two pairs of distinct tubercles on interstriae II in sub-basal and median area. Antennomeres IX–XI enlarged and significantly elongate in both sexes. This is the largest Malagasy Apatenia with the size of the body 5.5–10.3 mm.

Distribution and biology. So far this species is known only from remaining rainforests on the eastern part of Madagascar, specifically from areas surrounding Moramanga and nearby Analamazaotra National Park, here in the secondary but well-preserved forest at an elevation of about 960 m a.s.l. where it was found on drying and dead wood of smaller dimensions (up to 20 cm in diameter). The specific habitat requirement of species remains unknown.
