Dichotomius (Luederwaldtinia) joelus Gandini and Aguilar, 2009: 143 View in CoL .
This species have been assigned to the Dichotomius batesi species-group, however it lacks the main diagnostic character of batesi group that is the ocellate punctures on pronotal disc - “ El disco (del pronotum) casi liso, com puntos superficiales pequeños ” (disc almost smooth, with small superficial punctures) ( Gandini & Aguilar, 2009). After examining original description, pictures, and one couple of paratypes, we concluded that this name is a new synonym of Dichotomius opacipennis (Luederwaldt, 1931) , then belonging to the Dichotomius geminatus speciesgroup as defined by Nunes and Vaz-de-Mello (2013). As several syntypes of D. opacipennis were examined and all correspond to the same species, we will include their listing and lectotype designation in the ongoing revision of that species-group.
