Holotype information. Type locality: China, Zhejiang Province, Lin’an, Qingliangfeng Mt. Deposited at Museum of Biology , East China Normal University ( ECNU), Shanghai, China (not examined).

Remarks. As mentioned above, this species is almost the firstly recorded species of the subgenus Modicogryllus in China. He, et al. (2020) described this species under a new genus and he did not refer to any member of Modicogryllus . According to some illustrations, we found this species resembles to M. latefasciatus , Modicogryllus cyprius ( Saussure, 1877) and Modicogryllus frontalis (Fieber, 1844) . But the transverse stripe above frons of M. nigrus is wide, trim and not as irregular as what of M. latefasciatus , or as thin as what of M. cyprius , and as centrally constricted as what of M. frontalis ; and their genitalia are more or less in different shape.
