The genus is characterized by the style three or more times longer than the ovary, stem with cortical chlorenchyma in a continuous band, and chromosomic number equal to five and multiples ( O’Leary & Peralta 2007). The main diversity centers of Glandularia View in CoL are the south region of Brazil and northeastern Argentina ( O’Leary & Thode 2016). In Brazil, there are 34 species recorded, of which 13 are endemic and 26 are found in the Atlantic Forest domain ( O’Leary & Thode 2016, Thode & Bordignon 2019, Cardoso et al. 2020c, O’Leary et al. 2020). One species occurs in the state of Espírito Santo.
