Description. Adult. Colouration. Body yellow to ochreous dorsally and ventrally, dark brown to almost black laterally ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES 71–77 ). Head yellowish with brown longitudinal band in the middle of vertex and on genal processes ( Fig. 73 View FIGURES 71–77 ). Eyes greyish or reddish, ocelli yellow or orange. Antennal segments 1, 2 yellowish or light brown; segment 3–7 yellow in basal part, dark brown in apical part, darker portion increasing towards apical segments; segments 8–10 almost black. Clypeus yellow; rostrum yellow with black tip. Pronotum dirty yellowish. Mesopraescutum and mesoscutum with two and four longitudinal brown stripes, respectively. Legs brown; tibiae and tarsi yellow. Forewing transparent, membrane ochreous to light brown, veins yellow to brown, apex of clavus dark brown ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 71–77 ). Hindwing transparent, whitish to yellowish. Abdominal sclerites dark brown. Male proctiger and parameres light brown, subgenital plate dark brown, tip of parameres black; female terminalia irregularly lighter and darker brown. Light colour in younger specimens more expanded.

Structure. Vertex with big and flattened anteorbital tubercles. Genal processes 0.8–1.1 times as long as vertex along midline, adpressed medially ( Fig. 73 View FIGURES 71–77 ). Antenna 4.1–4.4 times as long as head width. Forewing ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 71–77 ) 2.5–2.7 times as long as head width, 2.1–2.2 times as long as wide; pterostigma moderately short, narrow at base; cell cu 1 0.8 times higher than wide; surface spinules much reduced, present only in apical half of cell r 1, and around the radular areas in the middle of cells r 2, m 1, m 2 and cu 1, and in cell cu 2 leaving broad spinule-free stripes along the veins. Metatibia 0.6 times as long as head width. Terminalia as in Figs 83, 94, 95 View FIGURES 78–95 , 100, 101 View FIGURES 96–104 . Male proctiger 0.4 times as head width, lacking posterior lobes basally but weakly produced, evenly rounded. Paramere lamellar, irregularly tapering to apex; with one slightly forward directed sclerotised tooth near apex in the middle; inner surface sparsely covered in long setae, denser and thicker apically, covering more or less apical third. Distal segment of aedeagus strongly inflated in apical third, bearing a sclerotised bar in the middle on either side, base with large projection; sclerotised end tube of ductus ejaculatorius large, slightly curved, originating in apical half of segment. Female proctiger 1.0–1.1 times as long as head width, dorsal outline almost straight, apex slightly upturned, pointed; circumanal ring 0.3 times as long as proctiger. Female subgenital plate 0.4–0.5 times as long as proctiger, apex subacute; dorsal outline with distinct angular lobe in apical third.

Measurements (in mm) and ratios (4 ♂, 3 ♀). Head width ♂ 0.92–0.98, ♀ 1.00–1.04; antenna length ♂ 3.80–4.04, ♀ 4.20–4.60; forewing length ♂ 2.38–2.58, ♀ 2.58–2.76; male proctiger length 0.34–0.38; paramere length 0.28–0.30; length of distal segment of aedeagus 0.30–0.32; female proctiger length 1.24–1.48.

Fifth instar immature ( Fig. 77 View FIGURES 71–77 ). Colouration. Dirty whitish, antenna yellowish with apices of flagellar segments brown. Tibiae and tarsi greyish brown. Abdomen whitish.

Structure. Body 1.6–1.8 times as long as wide. Antenna 7-segmented, 2.6–3.1 times as long as forewing pad which has 10–12 or more medium long or long setae dorsally and 15–17 weakly capitate marginal setae. Circumanal ring ( Fig. 103 View FIGURES 96–104 ) small, distance from anus to outer circumanal ring about as long as that from there to group of sectasetae, rounded laterally; consisting of several rows of pores except medially.

Measurements (in mm) and ratios (4 immatures). Body length 2.28–2.32, antenna length 1.72–1.84.

Etymology. Adjective, feminine form. From Latin uncus = hook, barb, clamp, and -ger = bearing, for the con- spicuous hook on the aedeagus.

Distribution. Brazil (MG, MS, PR, SP).

Host plant, biology and habitat. Copaifera langsdorffii Desf. —Two specimens (1 ♂, 1 ♀) were parasitised by Strepsiptera ( Fig. 222 View FIGURES 221–224 ).—Cerrado, transition between Atlantic forest and cerrado, riparian forest, degraded forests, forest edges, isolated trees, plantations, parks.

Comments. Jataiba uncigera differs from other copaiba psyllids as indicated in the key. Jataiba uncigera shares with J. basifistula , J. cearensis , J. cognata and J. incisa the long, evenly tapering and pointed genal processes, the very long antennae, and the broad forewing with a short and basally narrow pterostigma, suggesting the five species may constitute a monophyletic group. Within this group J. uncigera is morphologically most similar to J. cearensis , from which it differs in the slightly larger body dimensions and, most importantly, in the posterior margin of the male proctiger which is evenly rounded in basal third (rather than angular), in the paramere where the densely spaced spines in the apical third of the inner face cover a larger area, and in the distal aedeagal segment where the basal projection is larger. We could not find any differences between the females of the two species.
