Colopodacus rubrus sp. nov. ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ; Pl. 1 C, D)

Female: Body fusiform, 207 long, shield 48 long, 88 wide, shield lobe present; shield design with median line from basal 2/5 to half, admedian lines from basal 2/5 to apex, with transverse lines at half, converged to apex, connected at apex finally, with transverse line at basal 3/4, extending along with anterior margin, submedian line absent; scapular tubercles near to rear shield margin, scapular seta (sc) 7 long, directed upwards, Dt-Dt 41 apart. Legs: tibiae fused with tarsi; coxal area smooth; 1st coxal seta (1b) 3 long, Ct1-Ct1 12 apart, 2nd coxal seta (1a) 9 long, Ct2-Ct2 5 apart, 3rd coxal seta (2a) 13 long, Ct3-Ct3 37 apart, Ct1\Ct2 15, Ct1-Ct2 7, Ct2\Ct3 27, Ct2-Ct3 13; solenidion ending as knob; empodium simple, 4 rayed.

Opisthosoma: dorsum arched, dorsal annuli with 24 spiny microtuberculate rings, 1st 3 dorsal annuli 14 long; ventral annuli with 50 microtuberculate rings; lateral seta (c2) 13 long, Lt-Lt 65 apart, Lt\Vt1 67, Lt-Vt1 38; 1st ventral seta (d) 25 long, Vt1-Vt1 47 apart, Vt1\Vt2 54, Vt1-Vt2 44; 2nd ventral seta (e) 8 long, Vt2- Vt2 20 apart, Vt2\Vt3 56, Vt2-Vt3 51; 3rd ventral seta (f) 16 long, Vt3-Vt3 24 apart; accessory seta (h1) absent.

Epigynium: 28 wide, 22 long, with granules, genital seta (3a) 6 long, Gt-Gt 22 apart.

Male: not seen.

Type data: Holotype Ψ, Taipei: Yangmingshan (855m; N25°12´E121°30´), 22-Jan.-1998, Huang & Wang; ex Glochidion rubrum Blume (Euphorbiaceae) . (deposited at NMNS). Paratypes, 3Ψ, data same as for holotype.

Relation to host: A vagrant on the lower leaf surface. No apparent damage was observed.

Remarks: This new species is close to C. obovataus Huang et Wang, 2003 by they shield design with oval cell. This new species can be distinguished from C. obovataus by the shield design with median line from basal 2/5 to apex, admedian lines being a transverse line at half, and the 4-rayed empodium.

Etymology: The specific designation is derived from the specific name of the type host plant.
