Asetadiptacus phaeostictaus sp. nov. ( Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 ; Pl. 6 A, B)
Female: Body fusiform, 163 long, shield 33 long, 70 wide, shield lobe present, shield design with network of cells, with a tier of 6 cells along anterolateral shield margin, 4 cells occurring in antero-middle, 2 cells in postero-middle and 2 cells on rear of shield; scapular tubercles set ahead of rear shield margin, setae (sc) absent, Dt-Dt 24 apart, Dt-Sr 9; leg segments normal, fore and hind femoral setae absent, fore tibial setae (1´) 7 long, set at basal 1/3; coxal area smooth; 1st coxal setae (1b) 11 long, Ct1-Ct1 11 apart, 2nd coxal setae (1a) 9 long, Ct2-Ct2 13 apart, 3rd coxal setae (2a) 25 long, Ct3-Ct3 33 apart, Ct1\Ct2 17, Ct1-Ct2 9, Ct2\Ct3 23, Ct2-Ct3 10; claw ending as knob; empodium divided, 4 rayed.
Opisthosoma: dorsum arched, dorsal annuli with about 52 microtuberculate rings, 1st 3 dorsal annuli 9 long, ventral annuli with about 81 microtuberculate rings; lateral setae (c2) 22 long, Lt-Lt 55 apart, Lt\Vt1 54, Lt-Vt1 27; 1st ventral setae (d) 59 long, Vt1-Vt1 38 apart, Vt1\Vt2 41, Vt1-Vt2 28; 2nd ventral setae (e) 26 long, Vt2-Vt2 24 apart, Vt2\Vt3 47, Vt2-Vt3 40; 3rd ventral setae (f) 24 long, Vt3-Vt3 27 apart; accessory setae (h1) absent.
Epigynium: 26 wide, 19 long, with many short longitudinal ridges at base, genital setae (3a) 8 long, Gt-Gt 20 apart.
Male: 138 long, shield 33 long, 62 wide, Dt-Dt 20 apart; genitalia 17 wide, 8 long, genital setae (3a) 8 long, Gt-Gt 18 apart.
Type data: Holotype Ψ, Taipei: Yangmingshan (675m; N25°10´E121°34´), 18-Aug.-1999, Huang & Wang; ex Prunus phaeosticta L. (Smilaceae). (deposited at NMNS). Paratypes, 4Ψ2ɗ, data same as for holotype.
Relation to host: A vagrant on the lower leaf surface. No apparent damage was observed.
Remarks: This new species is close to A. salvifoliae De Lillo, 1997 by the shield design with network. This new species differs from A. salvifoliae by the following characters: the shield design with 6 cells occurring in middle, epigynium with short longitudinal ridges, and the 4-rayed empodium.
Etymology: The specific designation is derived from the specific name of the type host plant.
