( Figures 1 View Figure 1 (a – d)ı 3(a – cıj) and 5 View Figure 5 (a))
Diagnosis
Differs from the other species of the genus by the following characters. Clypeus strongly upturned and truncate medially. Basal margin of the pronotum presenting an agglomeration of denser and irregular puncturesı denser on the posteromedial portion. Pygidium surface finely punctate apicallyı punctation becoming larger and rugose at base.
Redescription
Male. Black or reddish-brown. Length: 7.5 mm. Head ı surface finely punctateı fine and well delimited. Clypeus strongly upturned and truncate mediallyı clypeal margin delimitedı continuousı without modification and concaveı concavity displaying microsculpture; margin reaching the genae and the anterior edge of the eyes. Genae angulate laterally. Cephalic carina distinctly arcuate in dorsal and frontal views; anteromedian portion lower than the lateral portion. Pronotal anteromedial portion modified in a lobate structureı widened and flattened anteriorly. Lobe with fineı dense punctures. Medial sulcus thin and conspicuousı defined with punctures that fade anteriorly. Posterior margin presenting wider and deeper punctures organised in a single row. Anteromedial edge exhibiting an agglomeration of denser and irregular punctures. Lateromedial fossae shallowı clearly visible on dorsal view. Metasternum lateral edges rugose. Medial disc smooth and shiny. Elytra wider than the pronotum. Surface of interstriae smooth and finely punctate. Striae deeply impressedı thin and with microsculptureı punctures as wide as the stria margin that connects the puncturesı being wider and deeper on elytral declivityı striae punctation separated by three times diameter of a puncture on elytral disc. Last striae shorter and more curved than the others; Epipleuron not modified. Protibiae with some scattered punctation. Pygidial surface finely punctate apicallyı punctation becoming larger and rugose at base.
Aedeagus length 2.3 mm. Phallobase approximately twice the length of the parameres ( Figure 3 View Figure 3 (a)). Other characters of the aedeagus and the sclerites of the internal sac as represented in Figure 3 View Figure 3 (a – cıj)).
Remarks
The description of the male was made based on the specimen reported by Génier (2010) from Ji-Paraná (Rondônia) and a recent male collected in the same state. The individuals present minor variation in punctuation on the base of the pygidium as mentioned in Génier (2010) ı but the other characters seem to show no variation. Until male specimens are captured in the area of Ega [now Tefé] in Amazonası Brazilı a doubt will remain on the conspecificity of the two Rondônia males and the holotype.
