Etymology. Specific epithet derived from the name of Laos, country of origin.
Type material. Holotype. ♂ “ LAO, Phongsaly prov., 21º41.2’N 102º6.8’E, 28.v-20.vi.2003, PHONGSALY env., ~ 1500 m Pacholàtko leg.”; “Collection Naturhistorishes Museum Basel”; “Ba-0119”; “gen. nov. A. Ślipiński” ( NHMB). GoogleMaps
Diagnosis. As for the genus.
Description. TL = 5.71 mm; TW = 4.51 mm; TL/TW = 1.27; PL/PW = 0.44; EL/EW = 1.04; PW/EW = 0.73. Head, mouthparts, legs, ventral side yellow. Pronotum ( Fig. 1A–C View FIGURE 1 ) yellow with large black central macula. Elytra black with three round yellow maculae on each elytron, arranged in two rows as 2–1 ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ). Prosternum covered with large, round punctae each bearing a single seta on its lateral side; meso and metaventrite covered with small setiferous punctae.
Male terminalia and genitalia. Apophysis of sternite IX with broadened basal and apical parts. Tergite X transverse ( Fig. 3J View FIGURE 3 ). Tegmen with penis guide in inner view ( Fig. 3K View FIGURE 3 ) with sides rounded, broadened in median part, apically rounded; in lateral view ( Fig. 3L View FIGURE 3 ) upturned apically; slightly shorter than parameres. Parameres broad, subparallel, broadly rounded apically, with distinct apical pore on each paramere ( Fig. 3M View FIGURE 3 ); apices covered with dense and long setae. Tegminal strut simple, longer than basal piece and penis guide combined. Penis capsule large ( Fig. 3I View FIGURE 3 ), with outer arm well developed, inner arm short; penis simple, rod-like, apically divided, with membranous apex.
