Diagnosis. Eyes separated or contiguous; antenna with 13 or 14 flagellomeres; first maxillary palp very short; wings narrow with acute apex and with undeveloped costal and anal areas or, in some species, costal area wider than anal area; wing membrane without bristles or only with marginal patches of bristles near veins; radial fork situated distal to the medial fork, or in the same position as the medial fork or basal to the medial fork; R5 united or not to Rs; R5 ending at apex or lightly behind it; tergite 9 and gonocoxite without bristles; apex of gonostyle with pair of long bristles; aedeagus symmetrical.
