Genus Elacatophora Schaufuss, 1884 View in CoL
Elacatophora Schaufuss, 1884: 403 View in CoL ; Csiki, 1919: 3; Newton & Franz, 1998: 143 (type species: Elacatophora robusta Schaufuss, 1884: 404 View in CoL , by monotypy).
Borneosabahia Franz, 1992: 893 View in CoL (type species: Borneosabahia mirifica Franz, 1992 View in CoL , by original designation), syn. n.
Morphology of this genus was thoroughly described and discussed by Jałoszyński (2004) (as Borneosabahia View in CoL ). Diagnostic characters given in that paper fully agree with those of the type species of Elacatophora View in CoL : the head with very large antennal cavities narrowly separated in the middle; antennae strongly thickened toward apices; antennomere XI remarkably enlarged; maxillary palpomere 4 very small, long and slender; the occipital constriction very narrow; the pronotum subconical, broadest near base, with a pair of lateral ante-basal impressions and ante-basal transverse groove; the elytra much broader than the base of the pronotum, each elytron with single, large basal asetose fovea; the procoxae and metacoxae contiguous, the mesocoxae narrowly separated by narrow and very high (i.e. strongly projecting ventrally) mesoventral keel; the protrochanters with a row of sparse, long and thick bristles along the ventral margin. Moreover, all known species of Borneosabahia View in CoL are extremely similar one to another, externally differing only in tiny but reliable details. The type species of Elacatophora View in CoL is hardly distinguishable from females of B. maxima ( Jałoszyński, 2005) View in CoL ; differences are discussed below.
