Replaced name:— Ocotea alata van der Werff (1991: 416) , nom. illeg., non Ocotea alata Givulescu (1975: 173 , pl. 6, fig. 4; pl. 12, figs. 6–7).
Type:— PERU. Loreto, Maynas, Mishana , Río Nanay halfway between Iquitos and Santa María de Nanay, 140 m, 12–13 January 1983, fl. ♀, A. H. Gentry et al. 39447 (holotype, MO barcode MO-247526) .
Etymology and Distribution:—The species is known from a few collections predominantly gathered from the Department of Loreto, Peru, and it is also registered for the Basin of Alto Juruá, Rio Tarauacá, 08º26’56”S, 71º20’56”W, state of Acre, Brazil.
