Type:— INDONESIA. Celebes, Tondano [“in de boschen rond Tondano”], June 1841, E. A . Forsten s.n. (lectotype designated here: L barcode L0450042 ). Other syntypes: G-DC, L barcodes L0450039 , L0450040 , L0450041 .
Note:—The extant species name Litsea cuneata (Blume) Boerl. is not in current use and it has been synonymized with L. tomentosa Blume (1826: 566) by Kostermans (1969: 509). There are at least five sheets collected by Forsten from Celebes. Specimen at L 0450042 is selected here as lectotype because it has an original label by Forsten, annotated with “In de boschen rond Tondano | Juni 1841 | Laurinae | Celebes”, and the name “ Tetranthera cuneata Bl ” in Blume’s handwriting. This taxon is known from Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, New Guinea, and Philippines ( Ngernsaengsaruay et al. 2005, de Kok 2017, Brambach & Pelser 2020).

Note:—Another extant species name Litsea cuneata (Blume) Boerl. , based on Cylicodaphne cuneata Blume , is also not in current use and it is a synonym of Litsea noronhae Blume (1826: 561) , as indicated by Kostermans (1969).
