Comparison of the type of Badister thoracicus Wiedemann, 1823 (deposited in Zoological Museum of the University of Copenhagen, ZMUC) with the types of Badister (s.str.) indicus Anichtchenko, 2012 , revealed no characters outside the range of intraspecific variation and establishes Badister (s. str.) indicus Anichtchenko, 2012 (new synonymy) as a junior synonym of Badister thoracicus . B. thoracicus was described from one male collected in Bengalia.
