Remarks. Apart from the larvae of Aturus scaber Kramer, 1875 ( Jones 1967; Ullrich 1976; Müller 2015), the larval description of A. fontinalis by Martin (2000) is the only existing larval description of the genus in Europe which comprise here about 20 species. For North America several larvae are described ( Smith 1984).

The observed chironomid parasitizing larvae resemble the description of A. fontinalis and thus, the larvae were preliminary assigned to this species due to the rareness of A. crinitus .
